HOW IT ALL BEGAN…
Our pie shop Heatherbrae’s Pies was established in 2001, the centenary year of our Federation. Our founder, Russell Cox, is passionate about bringing traditional tastes and quality foods back to Australian palates. Having a long career in the food industry, Russell located and built the Heatherbrae’s Pies establishment on the Pacific Highway at Heatherbrae, right at the roundabout to Raymond Terrace near Newcastle. Being just 2 hours north of Sydney, we think itβs the perfect rest stop on the drive north or south.
With old fashioned traditions and values in mind, it seemed fitting that we build a federation style bakery with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Our large dining and alfresco areas can cater for over 120 patrons. Two large car parks are on site with dedicated parking areas for caravans and trailers. More than just a pie shop, at Heatherbrae’s Pies we offer a full sit down or take away meal. Choose from a variety of side dishes as well as quality coffee and other warm or cool beverages.
Here at Heatherbrae’s Pies we have taken the humble Aussie meat pie and sausage roll and launched them into the modern era of convenience food competing admirably with neighbouring fast food giants. Unlike large multinational companies, we cook and bake our products on the premises using fresh ingredients. Every day from the wee hours in the morning, our skilled master pastry chefs make and bake our pies, sausage rolls, cakes and other delicacies using our own pastry and award winning recipes.
Our chefs take pride in producing premium quality foods using the freshest and best quality meats, vegetables, flour, cream and dairy products. Each pie is prepared using our own unique recipe. Every year our pies are entered into national baking competitions and have received a bevy of medals and awards over the years. Our determination and drive to achieve the best quality pies in the industry has resulted in Heatherbrae’s Pies becoming an icon in the local area as well as famous with highway travellers both here and abroad.
